Your Skipper - Chris Ollivier - Hooked on Barrier

Chris Ollivier is the owner and also your skipper for all sightseeing and fishing charters. Chris is a fully qualified Skipper (NZ Coastal Master) and has been the master of a range of vessels including Spirit Of Adventure, Spirit of New Zealand and numerous ferries including the Kestrel (double ended Auckland harbour ferry). He has 30 years of international and New Zealand seagoing experience and has been operating charters on the Barrier since 2006.

Chris loves the unspoiled nature of the coastline around his island home, where, apart from the Christmas period, there are few other boats around.

His local knowledge, extensive experience and friendly nature make him your best choice of a Great Barrier guide.

Sundancer - Hooked on Barrier - Great Barrier Island NZ

Sundancer is an 11.2 metre ex-fishing boat, modified for charters. It comfortably fits groups of up to 12 people fishing on the deck, or 20 people sightseeing. For your convenience, there is an on-board toilet, Tea and coffee facilities, with seating for 8 people inside the cabin plus seating on the aft deck.

The fibre-glass, Marlborough 38 design boat has a service speed of 8 knots, and is built to Maritime NZ standards to safely handle heavy weather.

Sundancer is set up and licenced for day charters only (no sleeping facilities on board) and is only available with the skipper (no bare boat charters).

All charters depart from Whangaparapara wharf, unless otherwise arranged.
